Cylinders

A cylinder has two circular ends and a curved side. Volume = πr²h — the area of the circular base multiplied by the height.

Think of it as stacking a huge number of very thin circular discs on top of each other until you reach height h.

Remember

V = πr²h. The πr² part is the circle area formula — you already know that one. Just multiply by height.

Real World

A soup can is a cylinder. The volume tells you how much soup fits in it. Use V = πr²h with the radius and height of the can.
